A common failure point on nearly all diesel engines is that of the exhaust manifold(s) due to excessive heat which creates warping and cracking. Both of these issues lead to exhaust leaks before the outgoing exhaust has a chance to spin the turbine wheel on your turbo, causing a lack of performance, excessive heat in the engine bay, and an exhaust smell that will come in through the vents and into your cab. If your 6.7 Cummins has fallen victim to a cracked or warped manifold, its time to replace and upgrade!
