One of the biggest limitations to building power in the 2nd Gen Cummins especially is airflow. Due to mechanical fuel injection, these trucks typically experience higher EGT's when additional fueling is applied compared to other applications. So what's the fix? For those trucks with 450+ horsepower, or looking to be at least, the Super HX40 is a great complement to the necessary fueling it takes to achieve this power level. By upgrading from the original 9 or 12 cm exhaust housing (depending on whether you have an HX35 or HY35 turbo) to a 16 cm housing and featuring a larger compressor housing, the Super 40 can flow over 850 CFM of airflow through your Cummins engine to keep it cool and boost pressure up.
