PowerStop co-founder Arvin Scott has spent his entire life around cars. As a kid, Arvin would spend his summers helping run the cash register at his grandfather’s auto parts store in the outskirts of Chicago. We get a lot of calls and e-mails each day with various product, vehicle, and installation questions. Some are completely off the wall and can even catch us off guard at times, but many others are fairly routine, so we thought we'd post some of the most popular questions that can hopefully be a good resource for you.

Q: What is the break in procedure for my brakes?
A: We are glad you asked, as this is a critical step of installation to help ensure you get the best possible performance out of your brakes. Upon completion of installation, you'll want to follow these steps. It should be noted, you'll need to find a non-busy area where it is SAFE and LEGAL to perform this procedure, as it requires rapid and repeated stops. Now, step 1: perform 5 moderate to aggressive stops from 40 mph to 10 mph in rapid succession. Step 2: perform 5 moderate stops from 35 mph to 5 mph in rapid succession. Step 3: this is the easy one, just drive around at a nice moderate pace for about 5 minutes. Let everything cool down naturally, and you're done. Look at you go! Well, look at you stop actually.
