Keeping your L5P Duramax running cool is crucial to ensure the longevity of the powertrain.By far, heat is the biggest threat to engine and transmission longevity.While the factory has done an adequate job of upgrading the various coolers on the Duramax engines over the years, such as the higher capacity engine oil cooler found on the L5P engines, for those that have modified their engines for additional power or simply push their trucks to the limit towing, the factory cooling components are not adequate.Further, an upgraded intercooler will not only provide additional cooling properties, but because cool air equates to dense air, there are shear performance advantages that come from upgrading.
