With the release of the 6.4L Powerstroke in 2008 came a huge stride for Ford, a jump into high pressure, common rail (HPCR) technology. Gone were the days of a HEUI system that utilized oil pressure to drive your injectors. The advantage to the HPCR system is that it has the ability to be finitely tuned by the ECM as well as deliver lesser emissions compared to older technology. For the aftermarket, it means that you can easily deliver substantial horsepower gains through tuning alone! But as with most things, the factory system can only take you so far, and because of this, the aftermarket has answered with numerous upgrades for increased power and longevity.
