This review, the fourth annual by J.D. Power and Associates, measures 8 things: engine reliability, control module, vibration while idle, ease of access for maintenance, acceleration, warranty of engine, maintaining speed on grades, and average fuel economy.
This year’s review determined that diesel truck owners are most satisfied with the dependability and reliability of their engines. The study also revealed a 26% drop in issues reported by diesel truck owners from 2007 to 2011.
Cummins scored below only one other diesel engine in the report.
