Starting on 2005 model year Cummins, Dodge started to install the factory lift pump inside of the fuel tank because they were finally able to realize that there were enormous issues related to the weak fuel transfer pump mounted on the side of the block. So what is Dodge's solution for those with pre-2005 model trucks if their lift pump dies? They will offer you a retrofit kit (that you get to pay for) that will install a fuel pump inside of the tank. This "retrofit kit" runs in the neighborhood of $350-$400 plus labor (which usually runs around $400)!
There are many kits available through the aftermarket (such as FASS) that offer high pressure pump kits that mount to the frame for a long lasting, reliable pump. But only FASS has engineered a kit that will simply bolt onto the frame, replacing the factory pump on the side of the block., and STILL be a long lasting, reliable pump. Because the pump is put in the factory location, installation is a breeze (less than an hour), and you get a FOUR YEAR WARRANTY to boot! To top it off, the DRP has a 33% increase in flow over your stock pump.
